The Pipe Majors' Club (of Scandinavia)
The Pipe Majors' Club is a club for Scandinavian pipe-majors. The requirement to be eligible as a member is to have led a Scandinavian pipe band competing in the Scandinavian Pipe Band Championships. Alternatively, it is possible to be considered as a member if one has provided other services to the piping community.
The club was reformed in 2006 from The Former Pipe Majors' Club, where only former pipe-majors were allowed as members.
The annual general meeting of the club is held every year in the autumn. At this meeting the highest executive of the club is elected – the senior pipe-major.
Latest news concerning Annual Meeting 6 October, 2012:
The following Pipe Majors participated in the meeting:
Christian Wessman, Bob Kilgour, Kaj Larssen, Niels Aaboe Jacobsen, Palle Schjerning, Peter Ulrik Scheel, Thomas Whitelaw, Mats d'Hermansson, Ulf Schönberg, Ib M.C. Nielsen. Jan Joensen had to return to Denmark en route due to his father's illness.
We had a very pleasant meeting, followed by the usual pleasant after-meeting, which included Chinese dinner at a restaurant, whisky, beer and a lot of chatting (live - not electronic!).
Palle was appointed as new Senior Pipe Major.
