Suggest link feature turned off

Since I just now had to delete about 50 porn and viagra spam links from the moderation queue and never gotten a "real" suggestion, I have turned off that feature. If you actually do want to suggest a link, send me an email instead.

Link archive added

I decided to add one more thing to the site - a web links archive that you can find under Links in the menu. I have added links to all our member bands and organisations, as well as to many other pipe band organisations, some non Scandinavian bands and a few other sites.

If you feel that some important link is missing, then use the handy suggest link link in the left navigation box. Links that you suggest will not appear immediately, but will get stored in the moderation queue. This means that all spam links will be deleted, so don't even try. But reasonable links will be added.

Request for pictures of our trophies

As you may have noticed, we now have an Image gallery on the site. I intend to use this to finally get the information about all the trophies in the Scandinavian competitons on line. But this also means that I need to have pictures of the trophies themselves.

Please help me by sending such pictures to Sven Axelsson. I also need information about the trophies; when and by whom were they given, what are the conditions of winning them, who were the latest winners? And so on ...

How to use this web site

Well, most of the changes I want to do to this web site have now been implemented. One change that I'm sure you all will approve is to use the forum more and more for announcements and information that previously was posted as news items on the PBAS site. This will mean that most of the future news items will be information about changes to the site or forum and such. Everything else will be dealt with on the forum.

Pretty soon I will display the most recent forum posts and the upcoming calendar events on the front page, like we do for Recent news. After that, I think the functionality is pretty much complete. But do let me know if you are missing something.

The PBAS Composition Quaich 2005 – Hornpipe

In connection with the Scandinavian Championships for pipers and drummers 2005, The Pipe Band Association of Scandinavia invites all Scandinavian players to compose a hornpipe of at least four parts for the Great Highland Bagpipe. The winning tune will be played and the winner announced at the prize giving ceremony at the Scandinavian Championships 2005.

The tunes will be judged by persons assigned by the AGM of the PBAS. The committee of the PBAS or persons assigned to judge the tunes may not take part in the contest. Protests regarding the decision on the winning suite will not be accepted.

Tunes should be clearly written in standard notation for the Great Highland Bagpipe. Each person is only allowed one entry. To ensure that the judges do not know who wrote which tunes, the music should not be marked with the composer's name, neither should the name of the tunes be written on the music. The music should be sent by post or email (PDF-file or JPG-file) to the chairman of the PBAS, a separate sheet or the email should state the composers name and address and the name of the tune (if any). Entries failing to fulfil these rules may be disqualified.

The winning tunes might be renamed by the PBAS. The main copyright of all tunes submitted will remain with the composers, but the PBAS has the right to publish the tunes in order to make them available to the Scandinavian piping community without paying any fees to the composers. The music sheets will not be returned to the competitors.

Entries should be sent to the chairman of the PBAS no later than 15 April, 2005 at the following address:
