Major overhaul of the PBAS web site
Submitted by admin on Wed, 2006-08-09 21:06. WebHallelujah!
I have finally done what I've been postponing far too long and updated both the site and the discussion forum. This is a major update - more or less everything has been changed. I'm pretty sure I have managed to move all relevant contents over, both for the site and the forum, but I might have missed something. Please look around and let me know if something is amiss.
If you are wondering, I'm now using the most excellent CMS Drupal for the site with a bunch of customizations by me, and forum software from Simple Machines. The reason I wanted to change forum software is that it was getting increasingly difficult to keep up with the security patches in PhpBB, especially since the forum was heavily modified. SMF has a much smoother way of handling updates and patches.
Hope you all will like it.
Additions to the forum
Submitted by admin on Tue, 2005-03-15 14:15. WebGreat to see that quite a few have found the new discussion forum and actually started to use it. For your convenience I have made a number of additions to the forum.
- It is possible to get the forum messages as an email digest, either daily or weekly (sundays) if you don't want to check the actual website that often.
- The poll system has been updated to allow for multiple selection polls.
- The forum start page now shows the latest news (from the Announcements forum) and the latest posts from any forum. This should make it easier to see what has happened in a glance.
- You can attach images and files to your posts. Please don't abuse this facility, since the files will take up space on the PBAS web server, and we don't have that much room.
Keep the discussions coming everybody!
The new discussion forum
Submitted by admin on Thu, 2005-02-24 11:44. WebIn order to make long discussions easier to follow, and old posts easier to find, I have created a web based discussion forum right here on the PBAS web site.
Eventually I want all communication and discussions to take place here so we can get rid of the pbasnews mailing list, but I'll keep both until people have registered on the new forum and started using it.
Please do register as soon as possible and start using the forum, so we can get some input on what categories and groups that are suitable.
Give me more pictures!
Submitted by admin on Thu, 2004-08-12 01:31. WebAs you can see, I managed to find some of the pictures for the front page in the Wayback Machine. But what would be nice is if every band could send a good picture of themselves at a competition or a gig somewhere. Then I could rotate these on the frontpage and give some visibility to you all.
The information pages have been updated
Submitted by admin on Wed, 2004-08-11 03:49. WebThe pages under Information have all been updated with current information. Also, downloadable files are available for PBAS Constitution, and for PBAS Competition Rules and Judges' Sheets.
Some more pages resurrected
Submitted by admin on Tue, 2004-08-10 17:10. WebI have recreated some of the information pages from saved data in the Wayback Machine (www.archive.org). Please check this information for correctness, since it might be outdated.
